Executive burnout retreats sold to companies in London and Singapore as a package

Back to the idea

Written for this site as a starting point, not from the book. Rules and fees change: ask the bodies named below before you spend money.

The mechanism, from the book

Ayurveda is a system of medicine the world already recognises and seeks out. The demand is there; what Sri Lanka needs is more of its own names, known and asked for abroad.

The first step

Find the person who manages staff wellbeing at a mid-sized firm in London or Singapore with a Sri Lankan founder or senior manager, and ask for 20 minutes. Show a one-page 5 night programme with a fixed price per person and a single invoice. Ask whether they would send two people as a trial. A trial booking, or the budget line it would come from, is the proof.

Who pays first
A company in London or Singapore that already spends on staff wellbeing and wants a programme it can book as one invoice.
What leaves today
Corporate wellbeing money is spent close to the office; a priced, invoiced package is what lets it travel to the island instead.

Ask first

  • Department of the Registrar of Companies. Ask how to set up a company that contracts with firms abroad.
  • Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. Ask how a retreat sold to companies registers as a tourist service.

Check before you spend

That contracts with companies are clear on what is included, that any therapist is qualified, and that guests' privacy is protected.

Find out these three numbers

  1. What do companies pay now for staff wellbeing programmes?
  2. How many companies in London or Singapore would trial one?
  3. What does one guest cost per week to host?

The test

Does it keep value that now leaves the island, or build the proof that lets somebody else do so?
