Why Not Sri Lanka
Translate your book into Sinhala, with proof
One model translates. A second translates it back into the original language without ever seeing your original. A third reads the two side by side and fixes what changed in the crossing. Every number and every name is checked by machine. And where only a native ear can choose between two right words, you choose, or a native Sinhala speaker does.
The Sinhala edition of WHY NOT SRI LANKA? was made this way. It works both ways: English into Sinhala, and Sinhala into English.
How it works
- Upload your file. Word, PDF, EPUB or plain text. The words are counted in your browser and the price shows before you pay anything.
- It is translated in parts. Each part keeps the same names and terms as the last, so chapter twelve sounds like chapter one.
- It is checked against itself. A blind back-translation and a judge catch the meaning that slipped: a lost "not", an "about" that became "only", an idiom carried word for word.
- You get the proof. The translation, the side-by-side review, the word choices for a native ear, and a short report of what was found and fixed.

A word choice for a native ear

What you get
- translation.docx: the clean translation, headings and paragraphs as in your original, set in a proper Sinhala or English book face.
- review.docx: every paragraph side by side, your original, the translation and the blind back-translation, with anything found marked in a notes column.
- The word choices: where only a native ear can decide, both options, each explained in plain English, so you can choose even if you read little Sinhala.
- A short report: the word count, every number checked, the names used throughout, what was fixed and the judge's verdict in a sentence or two.
What it is not
It is not a certified translation and not a legal one: do not use it for court papers, immigration or contracts. It is not a replacement for a publisher's proofread before print. It is a careful translation that shows its own working, so you can see where it is sure and where a person should look.
