Starter Kit. Idea 116 of 500. Cluster 5
Dental tourism packages, which already exist quietly and could be sold openly
The mechanism, from the book
Ayurveda is a system of medicine the world already recognises and seeks out. The demand is there; what Sri Lanka needs is more of its own names, known and asked for abroad.
The first step
Ask two dental practices in your city whether they already treat visitors from abroad, what they charge for common work, and whether they would let you publish that list. Put the prices beside a room, transfers and a day trip on one page. Show it to a Sri Lankan association abroad and count how many members ask for a quote. Quote requests are your first demand signal.
- Who pays first
- A Sri Lankan family abroad, or their friends abroad, facing a large dental bill at home who will travel for published prices and a trusted practice.
- What leaves today
- Dental visitors already come quietly; without published prices and standards, most who would come never find out, and pay at home instead.
Ask first
- Sri Lanka Medical Council. Ask how a visitor can check a dentist's registration.
- Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. Ask whether a dental package with accommodation needs any registration.
Check before you spend
That every dentist is registered, that the clinic meets hygiene standards, and what happens if a patient needs follow-up after going home.
Find out these three numbers
- What do patients abroad pay for common dental work?
- How many dental clinics would join a package?
- How long must a patient stay for treatment?
A comparison from the book
Sri Lanka. Appendix
"One of anything is proof that it can"
The clinics already exist; what is missing is selling them openly and well.
The test
Does it keep value that now leaves the island, or build the proof that lets somebody else do so?
From the appendix of Why Not Sri Lanka? by Dr Maheshika Halbeisen. The idea and the mechanism are the book's; this kit was written for the site.
